It Was a Magical Time Print

I am a self taught mixed media painter who has taken a handful of design, life drawing and sculpture classes. I paint because it gives me joy and there is such freedom in the process when letting go of rules and not trying to control an outcome. I work with whatever materials I have on hand. Some favorites are acrylics, pastels, oils and oil sticks, conte, charcoal, and colored pencils. Most of my work is painted on smooth surfaces like vellum paper, rolled canvas, wood and hardboard. I love working with color--mixing it, applying it, and wondering about the many ways it can be used to reflect feelings, a mood, an emotional state. I also enjoy the compositional aspect of creating a painting. I never stress over this but allow for feelings and intuition to guide me. Mixing methods, tools and starting points takes me down an unknown path that keeps the process interesting and mysterious.
