I have been a University painting teacher for 40 years and am now retired. Retirement has allowed me to work full time in my studio. Although the subject of my work may be either figurative or abstract, I see no difference between either when I set to work on a painting, because as painter my vocabulary is visual form.The subject matter of my paintings may be realistic or abstract and appeal to the spectator on various levels. I would, however, hope the spectator would respond on an esthetic level and share the feeling conveyed by the form of the painting whether figurative or abstract. That feeling is the real content of my paintings.
