The Story of Izium: Russians killed many. On September 17th, 2022 Ukrainian investigators worked their way through a mass burial site found in Eastern Ukrainian city Izium after its recapture from Russian forces. At least 440 “unmarked” graves were found in the city according to Ukraine’s Defense Ministry. Some of the bodies found showed signs of torture. In this painting you can see Ukrainmian woman by the burial with crosses. There are so many of them that they slowly go into the sky, just like souls of dead people... I was born and raised in former USSR, Ukraine. I immigrated to the USA in 1992. My first art degrees from Myrgorod Ceramics College and Lviv National Academy of Arts are from Ukraine. Later, I did two masters degrees in interdisciplinary art and teaching art from Columbia College, Chicago. Now, I live and work in Chicago. At present, I am a high school art teacher and a visual artist. I've taught visual arts for over 23 years. Currently, I am focusing on painting art works that explore invisible aspects of spiritual world and our desire to see it. Also, I combine abstract with figurative style. Hopefully, my art will resonate with your feelings and mood.
