Jack Daniel’s No. 7 is the top selling American whiskey in the world. It is produced in Moore County, Tennessee, which is a dry county, so it’s not possible to purchase a drink in stores or restaurants within the county. This painting was inspired by the unique bottle design that enhances the lights and darks across the surface of the painting. First the surface of the canvas has a coating of gesso applied with a small palette knife to add dimension to the surface. Then expressive splatters and paint drips added to provide additional interest to the final painting.
