- Title "Jehovah Jireh The Lord Will Provide" - 24x24 inches - Stretched canvas 1.5 inches deep ready to hang with wire on back; edges painted black - No additional framing included This is the third painting in a series that I did a few years ago on the various names of God used to describe his dealings with his people. The name Jehovah Jireh is used after God provided a ram instead of Isaac for Abraham to sacrifice. "So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, 'On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.' " (Genesis 22:14) I've used sparrows bringing a praying man leaves and twigs as a symbol of God providing for our needs. I am not only the man, but the sparrow in this picture. God provides for my needs, and then I can go out and serve and provide for someone else. Jesus said: "Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God." -Luke 12:6 "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" -Matthew 6:26 I began this painting as a live demo at a book signing event for the children's novel Abel's Song which I illustrated. I later completed it in oil back at the studio. The painting is on 1.5" deep gallery wrap canvas with sides painted black and a wire on the back for easy hanging without any additional framing needed.

Within the medium of oil and acrylic painting, my goal is to inspire people to make positive changes within themselves and the world around them, sometimes using metaphorical imagery with clear meaning, often left open to the viewer’s interpretation, but with an overall feeling that there is love and order even in a seemingly chaotic world. Although I make an effort to be aware of current events and culture, my paintings don’t target a specific time and place in order for my works remain relevant across cultural and generational borders. As my work typically uses a combination of subject matter to communicate ideas, I’ve gravitated to surrealism as it allows me to juxtapose recognizable images in fresh ways to visualize spiritual realities that cannot be seen. Having been painting from a very young age, I been advancing in my career in art as a full time profession for the last 10 years. Dozens of successful murals and many years of teaching art and painting in public have allowed me interaction with others and a versatility that I would not have achieved with a studio-only art practice. These opportunities have also helped improve my technical skill and ability to communicate. Within the last 5 years, my paintings have been gaining more acceptance into national and international juried exhibitions while also achieving greater recognition among art professionals and collectors. This is partly due to my involvement in the Water for Life International Art Exhibitions and the Federation of Canadian Artists.
