I am a landscape painter living in Denver, CO. I am inspired by the landscape of the Southwestern U.S. I hike about these amazing places and draw, make small watercolor jottings and take photos. I return to the studio and paint the landscapes, focusing on the light or the formations, color or speed of the mark on the canvas. Sometimes I want to recreate the color, the silence, the sweep/movement of a sliver of tan against the rust of a promontory, or the deep blue against orange cliffs. I find the southwest of the U.S., the high desert, most compelling. I grew up in Philadelphia, PA. For years I came to NM and CO and felt a strong connection to the southwestern U.S. landscape. I moved to Denver in 1997 and have been able to focus on painting landscapes of the high desert and Rocky Mountain region for the last 10 years.
