ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting is inspired by the view of my backyard. When we have full moon the moon sets behind this mountain range called Kalalea at sunrise. The owl was visiting me every evening, it was quite an experience. Kalalea is a sacred place for Hawaiians. its said (and confirmed by the Dalai Lama when he visited Kauai) that all souls come in through that mountain. Its shape reminds of a pregnant praying goddess. In ancient times hawaiian women gave birth there.

Patrizia Arroyo studied Fine Art at the University of Frankfurt in Germany. After extensive travels all over the world she returned to start an apprenticeship as a scenic artist. She worked for over 15 Years as a backdrop artist for theaters such as the Berlin Opera and the Opera in Bern, Switzerland. She found her now home in Kauai 2007. Patrizia's work is inspired by the Hawaiian culture and the natural beauty of the Hawaiian Islands. She likes to explore the relationship between ourselves and our environment, our inner landscapes and outer ones.
