About The Artwork
The canvas surface has a slight texture, but with a smooth glaze. The canvas can be removed from the stretcher for easy shipping. With these works my process seemed to be an escape from a unique year and was driven by my process of recounting housed memories. The birds or their reference are players here, because they have remained constant in my daily activities reminding me that it all is okay. Conversations along with some fleeting images that served as reminders of places, objects, designs, etc. have served as my impetus for these visual explorations. This was a conscious effort of mine to shed the present and actively participate with the inspired memories. The gun and hammer imagery have faded in this group of works, while mostly birds serve the relationship metaphor, whether building, destroying or just providing a path outside the compositions.

I received a B.F.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, an M.A. in Painting from the University of Wyoming and an M.F.A. in Art and Design from the University of Illinois. I have lived and regularly exhibited in the Houston area for the last twenty plus years. My work has been exhibited across Texas in venues such as the Arlington Museum of Art, Cardozier Gallery at the University of Texas Permian Basin, Blue Star Contemporary Arts Center, Old Fort Russell Building in Marfa and the Jones Center for the Arts in Austin. Nationally, I have shown in venues such as I-Space Chicago, the Kauffman Gallery in Pennsylvania, RPS Gallery in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Shift Gallery in Seattle and the Krannert Art Museum in Illinois. In addition, I have participated in exhibitions at the Museo de Arte Moderno in Trujillo, Peru, MadisMad Gallery in Madrid, Spain and Muse Gallery in Hyderabad, India. My work is represented in numerous publications and both public and private collections throughout the U.S.
