ABOUT THE ARTWORK

My admiration for Karl Lagerfeld began in 2010 when I first watched the documentary Lagerfeld Confidential. His approach to fashion, attention to detail, and ability to blend classic with avant-garde fascinated me so much that I watched the film over and over again. In 2018, I watched the haute couture spring-summer 2018 show, where 16-year-old Kaia Gerber, Karl’s muse and the daughter of Cindy Crawford, shone on the runway. The collection was filled with lightness and elegance: delicate fabrics, pastel shades, and refined silhouettes, all inviting you into a dreamlike world. This watercolor piece was born as a response to that tender atmosphere and is dedicated to the bright moments of my happy 2018.

True beauty isn’t about perfect forms, it’s the story that imperfections tell. Ideals? Forget them — real beauty lies in the nuances and the flaws. Leave room for adventure, experimentation, and deep breaths to relax and let go of internal barriers. That’s why I love art and fashion — they offer the freedom to express oneself. I was born in Ukraine in 1984, and from a young age, I was drawn to art and fashion. I graduated from art and music schools, followed by a school of fashion design. Later, I earned a degree in engineering from Kharkov Aviation University. After completing my degree, I moved to Kyiv, where I began working in the fields of art, events, and fashion. I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember — both for commissions and for myself, always experimenting with materials, colors, and techniques. I’ve participated in exhibitions and showcased my work at private events. My art reflects an internal conflict between discipline and spontaneity, between the pursuit of perfection and the desire for freedom. I’m proud that my paintings adorn interiors around the world: in Ukraine, London, Israel, USA, Canada, Turkey, Sweden, and beyond. With the onset of the war in Ukraine, I relocated to Georgia, where I continue to live and work.
