ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is part of words and pictures series called 'Unter den Linden'. It's the title of a book by Christa Wolf, a German author, who I read while doing my MA in German Literature and Gender Studies. It's the collaged pages of this book that sit behind the woman in the painting. Suhrkamp press blurb ~ “I always liked going to Unter den Linden. Preferably, you know, alone. Recently, after long avoiding it, the street appeared to me in a dream. Now I can finally tell you about it.” In Christa Wolf's great story, the walk down Berlin's boulevard leads a woman through her own memories – of a passionate love and the struggle not to lose herself.

Visual and mixed media artist. I returned to painting after a long gap, after suffering a stroke a few years back. What started as art as therapy has become daily, joyful creative play inspired by colour and light, The interplay between words and images intrigues me and I'm fascinated by women - their emotions, connection with nature, relationships with themselves and other women. I'm currently working on a series called 'The women' which celebrates sisterhood. I also explore abstract floral and landscape art. Seeking beauty and sparking joy as part of my personal well-being journey. As Matisse once said, 'There are always flowers for those who want to see them.' Originally from the blueberry laden Atlantic shores of Canada, I now live in Sardinia with my husband (the poet farmer) and Violetta (the cat muse).
