In Japan, there is an art form called kintsukuroi which means “to repair with gold." When a ceramic pot or bowl would break, the artisan would put the pieces together again using gold or silver lacquer to create something stronger, more beautiful, then it was before. The breaking is not something to hide. It does not mean that the work of art is ruined or without value because it is different than what was planned. Kintsukuroi is a way of living that embraces every flaw and imperfection. Every crack is part of the history of the object and it becomes more beautiful, precisely because it had been broken.People are the same way. In painting this artwork I was inspired from this Japanese form of art. Signed both front and back shipping in wooden crate

Valentina Baicuianu, a contemporary Romanian painter, extends a compelling invitation to viewers for a profound plastic discourse centered around themes of living, reflection, self-discovery, and self-reconciliation. In a world where individuals often blend into the background and thought processes adhere to predefined patterns, Valentina's art serves as a poignant call to introspection. Throughout her artistic journey, Valentina has explored various routes and searches to discover a modern expression of portraiture. Having spent two decades in the corporate world and subsequently flourishing as an artist, she proposes a confrontation with her own experiences while transparently revealing her universe. Many of her works, indicative of her recent artistic evolution, now reside in private collections both in her native country and abroad. Valentina's creations unveil the wellsprings of inspiration, her quest for a distinctive artistic style, and the processes of abandonment and rediscovery encapsulated in the phrase: "Many of my works are personae, experiences, and emotions translated into a plastic metaphor that invites its viewers to undergo the decoding exercise." Valentina Baicuianu's notable recognitions include being a finalist in The 41st International Artavita Online Art Contest, receiving the Artist of the Future Award from Contemporary Art Curator Magazine, and earning the Artistic Achievement distinction at the Luxembourg Art Prize. Her insightful interviews have been featured in Art Reveal Magazine, ISSUE Insider Artists, and Contemporary Art Curator Magazine.
