Born in rural Australia, Nicole started drawing at the age of four and at five years of age she won her first art award.
She started working in colour pencil, then moved to pencil and coloured ink, then acrylics, and then finally oils which is the medium she now uses.
Nicole has always been interested in portraits as she is intrigued how a face can tell a story. Her painting style is self-taught, and she focuses on creating energetic, enigmatic and expressive portraits. The subjects of her portraits are personalities who either inspire, are influential or relevant.
Her portraits are experimental in their style, expressive and emotive, using bold contrasts of light and shadow. She builds layers of colour though brush strokes, droppers and palette knives to create a semi-realistic effect.
