Kokoy's garden Print

Kokoy', nickname given to my dear cousin since his childhood. This came from the fact that he was sucking his thumb while emitting a sort of incongruous noise which this little name recalls well. Today he is what I call an 'urban Rasta'. Kokoy became 'King-Koy' to his friends. Long, thin, razor sharp and a lover of nature. It has a 'ghetto', as they say there. It is located on the heights of the commune of Sainte-Anne. He has his garden where he grows plants, fruits and also some flowers. There is a vegetable garden with 'country vegetables' and condiments. Everything is organic, maintained daily by hand. My pleasure on each visit to the 'ghetto': enjoy a good herbal tea with freshly picked plants. These plants have atypical names such as Atoumo (Creole - 'for all ills'), Brisée, Gros Thyme, but also Doliprane or Efferalgan. In the Caribbean climate, the place is ideal for a good nap. After a short rest, I often wake up at sunset. The view is splendid! Opposite, on the left, a mountain called the 'Holy Mountain'. On the horizon over the sea, we can see the diamond rock. Then, very close by, there is this garden with these plants with shimmering leaves. These leaves of all shapes, ocher and perennial. They emit a light background noise like rustling. It's the end of the day, under the warm breeze, they are dancing. I sit, be silent and contemplate. It's time, the sun is slowly finishing its cycle before disappearing. It's calming. In the middle of this incandescent nature, visions and emblems of my island appear to me. Room for all kinds of imagination.
