Krishna and Rugmini in Kathakali form is traditional mural painting of Kerala, which depicts puranic characters of Indian mythology following rules of Indian classical painting. Kathakali is a major classical art form in is a 'story play' genre of art ,but one distinguished by the elaborately colorful makeup and costumes of the traditional male actor dancers. Now females are also performing Katha kali.Fully developed style of Kathakali originated around 17th century.Story line of Kathakali is always from Hindu purana, Ramayan and Mahabharatha.This painting is motivated from Rugmini swayamvaram Katha kali which depicts marriage of Lord Krishna and Princess Rugmini.Mural paintings are traditional form of painting in Kerala, where only 5 colors are used. Erlier, natural colors were used. now acrylic is also will take several months to complete on picture and artist will take fasting and celebacy during that period.
