Nicole Caron’s paintings are part of private collections across Canada, the United States, France, Italy, Portugal, Japan, and Cyprus, as well as the permanent collection of the Old Brewery Mission in Montreal.

Born in 1963 in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Nicole Caron is a contemporary Canadian painter whose work is guided by an intuitive pursuit of light, energy, and natural beauty. Her creative spark began in early childhood; watching her mother paint for pleasure, she would often ask: "Please, would you paint a vase of flowers?" That early wonder evolved into a lifelong artistic vocation.

Caron’s semi-abstract and floral works are celebrated for their luminous depth, dense textures, and sculptural presence. Working exclusively in oil using palette knives and spatulas, she sculpts rich impasto layers with decisive, energetic gestures. Her distinctive palette balances grounded earth tones—deep ochres, raw umbers, and velvety Payne’s grey—with vibrant, spontaneous bursts of light and color.

Deeply inspired by Armand Tatossian and the legacy of Quebec’s Automatists—notably Jean-Paul Riopelle, Paul-Émile Borduas, and Marcelle Ferron—Caron transforms her observations of nature into a visual language that is uniquely her own. Through each canvas, she invites the viewer into an invigorating dialogue between raw gestural rhythm, poetic serenity, and the vibrant pulse of life.
