About The Artwork
Inspired by the hummingbird, a magical little being that visits my garden every spring and stays for the summer months. I have had some close encounters, and although one has never perched on my finger, my daydreams told me otherwise. I wanted to create a work that was also a rebirth of a mural that had been demolished, all in the name of progress. It is always a blow to see art destroyed. So one day in the garden the hummingbird came and did its rounds, and a light went off, or was it a daydream, and lady Hummingbird was born. The Buddha represents the idea of rebirth and finding peace in the chaos of our minds. Connecting with the Natural world is an ongoing theme in this particular genre.
