Lament, oil on paper. This is a small study, playing with monochrome, sepia tones and at the same time experimenting with new techniques. The painting has a hand written poem on the back, titled 'Lament' by Rainer Maria Rilke. + + Lament + Everything is far and long gone by. I think that the star glittering above me has been dead for a million years. I think there were tears in the car I heard pass and something terrible was said. A clock has stopped striking in the house across the road… When did it start?… I would like to step out of my heart an go walking beneath the enormous sky. I would like to pray. And surely of all the stars that perished long ago, one still exists. I think that I know which one it is— which one, at the end of its beam in the sky, stands like a white city…

-Melinda is based in London. Her work focuses on philosophical and empirical questions emerging out of human experience, both individual and collective. Her main focus is the human condition and one's internal world one experiences amidst the expectations of society. She is interested in the present and the past, her paintings explore different points of view on existence. -Experimenting with colour is important in her creative process, as well as partially deconstructing the forms which allows her to find an equilibrium between figuration and abstraction. -Melinda was born as an ethnic Hungarian in Transylvania (Romania) in 1976 under the communist regime, and as a teenager she witnessed the sudden uprising of the people, which eventually ended it. She found the transition between the silent acceptance into the outburst of desire for freedom fascinating. Later this brought up Melinda’s interest in Psychology. -In 2009 she graduated from the University of Art and Design, Cluj receiving her BA in Fine Art, Painting. -In 2013 she moved to England.
