ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Buh buh buh buh buh buh ba da dah Duh duh duh duh duh duh da da dah We're all going, we're all going Well, the lampshade's on fire when the lights go out The room lit up and we ran about Well, this is what I really call a party now Packed up our cars, move to the next town Well, the lampshade's on fire when the lights go out This is what I really call a party now Well, fear makes us really, really run around This one's done so where to now? Our eyes light up, we have no shame at all Well, you all know what I'm talking about Shaved off my eyebrows, let 'em fall to the ground So I can't look surprised right now Pack up again, head to the next place Where we'll make the same mistakes Burn it up or just chop it down A-this one's done so where to now? Buh buh buh buh buh buh ba da dah Duh duh duh duh duh duh dada dah We're all going, we're all going Well, the lampshade's on fire when the lights go out This is what I really call a party now Well, fear makes us really, really run around A-this one's done so where to now? Our eyes light up, we have no shame at all Well, you all know what I'm talking about The room lights up, but we're still dancing around We're having fun, having some fun now Pack up again, head to the next place Where we'll make the same mistakes Open one up and let it fall to the ground Pile out the door when it all runs out Buh buh buh buh buh buh ba da dah Duh duh duh duh duh duh da da dah We're all going, we're all going We have spines and other bones We'll eat your food, we'll throw stones Oh, this is how it's always gone And this is how it's going to go Well, we're the human race We're going to party at this place And then move on (Tough luck) We'll kill you off and then make a clone Yeah, we got spines, yeah, we have bones This is how it's always gone And this is how it's going to go As our feelings are getting hurt Oh, we want you to do the work Our ass looks great inside these jeans Well, we want just our water clean Well, this is how it's always been And this is how it's going to be So you just move on Well, the air's on fire so we're moving on Better find another one cause this one's done Waiting for the magic of the scientist's glove To push, push, push, push, pull us up Spend some time, floating in outer space Find another planet, make the same mistakes Our mind's all shattered when we climb aboard Hoping for the scientist to find another door 'Lampshades on Fire’ by Modest Mouse Songwriters: Green Jeremiah Martyn / Brock Isaac K / Judy Eric Scott / Higbee Russell Scott / Fairchild Kirby James / Peloso Tom Peter "Lampshades on Fire" is a song by American alternative rock band Modest Mouse. It is the lead single from their sixth studio album Strangers to Ourselves, released on December 15, 2014. This song as well as the entire Strangers to Ourselves album was mixed by Joe Zook. Strangers to Ourselves is the sixth album by American alternative rock band Modest Mouse, which was released on March 17, 2015, two weeks after its initially announced release date of March 3. The album was leaked to the internet on March 7, 2015. On March 16, 2015, the day before the album's official release date, Strangers to Ourselves was made available for download on (free for Prime) and the iTunes Store. It is the band's first studio album since We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, released in 2007, marking the longest gap between studio albums in their career. Modest Mouse recorded two albums' worth of material in their sessions, though the second album still has several songs incomplete. Joe Zook, who mixed We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, also mixed Strangers To Ourselves. The album's cover features an aerial image of Venture Out RV Resort, located in Mesa, Arizona. Modest Mouse is an American rock band formed in 1992 in Issaquah, Washington, and currently based in Portland, Oregon. The founding members are lead singer/guitarist Isaac Brock, drummer Jeremiah Green, and bassist Eric Judy. Strongly influenced by Pavement, Pixies, XTC, and Talking Heads, the band rehearsed, rearranged, and recorded demos for almost two years before finally signing with small-town indie label K Records and releasing numerous singles. Since their 1996 debut This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About, the band's lineup has centered on Brock and Green. The band achieved mainstream success with their fourth album Good News for People Who Love Bad News (2004) and its singles "Float On" and "Ocean Breathes Salty". Judy performed on every Modest Mouse album until his departure in 2012. Guitarist Johnny Marr (formerly of the Smiths) joined the band in 2006, shortly following percussionist Joe Plummer(formerly of the Black Heart Procession) and multi-instrumentalist Tom Peloso, to work on the album We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank (2007). Guitarist Jim Fairchild joined the band in 2009. The band's sixth album Strangers to Ourselves was released on March 17, 2015. Source: Wikipedia

I’m (I am?) a self-taught artist, originally from the north suburbs of Chicago (also known as John Hughes' America). Born in 1984, I started painting in 2017 and began to take it somewhat seriously in 2019. I currently reside in rural Montana and live a secluded life with my three dogs - Pebbles (a.k.a. Jaws, Brandy, Fang), Bam Bam (a.k.a. Scrat, Dinki-Di, Trash Panda, Dug), and Mystique (a.k.a. Lady), and five cats - Burglekutt (a.k.a. Ghostmouse Makah), Vohnkar! (a.k.a. Storm Shadow, Grogu), Falkor (a.k.a. Moro, The Mummy's Kryptonite, Wendigo, BFC), Nibbler (a.k.a. Cobblepot), and Meegosh (a.k.a. Lenny). Part of the preface to the 'Complete Works of Emily Dickinson helps sum me up as a person and an artist: "The verses of Emily Dickinson belong emphatically to what Emerson long since called ‘the Poetry of the Portfolio,’ something produced absolutely without the thought of publication, and solely by way of expression of the writer's own mind. Such verse must inevitably forfeit whatever advantage lies in the discipline of public criticism and the enforced conformity to accepted ways. On the other hand, it may often gain something through the habit of freedom and unconventional utterance of daring thoughts. In the case of the present author, there was no choice in the matter; she must write thus, or not at all. A recluse by temperament and habit, literally spending years without settling her foot beyond the doorstep, and many more years during which her walks were strictly limited to her father's grounds, she habitually concealed her mind, like her person, from all but a few friends; and it was with great difficulty that she was persuaded to print during her lifetime, three or four poems. Yet she wrote verses in great abundance; and though brought curiosity indifferent to all conventional rules, had yet a rigorous literary standard of her own, and often altered a word many times to suit an ear which had its own tenacious fastidiousness." -Thomas Wentworth Higginson "Not bad... you say this is your first lesson?" "Yes, but my father was an *art collector*, so…"
