Born in Solingen/Germany I am living in Regensburg. There I worked in the University Library. Besides, I have been involved in pastel painting for many years. I paint landscapes and still lifes, starting from sketches and photographs. Sometimes my subjects are taken from people in cafes and beer gardens. Moreover I paint abstractions and fantasy pictures. The inspiration for my painting comes, on the one hand, from the surrounding landscape and, on the other hand, from the need to express my inner state of being. In addition, there is an interest in capturing and presenting optical laws. An essential motive is also influenced by philosophy. Nature is the creation found by us, independent of man, in it appears what we call God. I try to express this in some pictures. I am influenced by the realistic and impressionistic painting of the 19th century, but also by some modern art movements. In all these pictures, I am always more concerned with a more general statement than a mere topographic rendering. Atmosphere and light are always noticeable, also in still lifes, phantasy pictures and abstractions. They should also give a meditative calm and harmony. It is not for me to limit myself to one style, for example to paint only impressionistic or only abstract pictures. I paint what comes to my mind, what stimulates me from the outside or what moves me inwardly. But I hope that my character will be visible, apart from the same pastel technique, and that as far as possible something substantial will come out. Of course, for as long as possible I want to engage in this activity, which has its own value and reward, independent of recognition and success. The inspiration for this is always the light that gives life and color to things, and that convinces us that creation, in spite of all darkness and all calamities, was a good idea of the Creator. ................... see also :
