About The Artwork

It's been a long time since the earth was born. All living things have evolved and lived in a miraculously born atmosphere and water cycle. I created the work of this series with all the thoughts of life that will continue to live forever. The creatures are warm and ephemeral, but they are surrounded by a mist that always forms even if they disappear. I want to create such an image. I would be happy if I could share it with you. I majored in Japanese painting at an art university. I love Japanese paper and mineral pigments. The materials for Japanese painting are primitive and difficult, and there are many restrictions. However, I think it is a very interesting painting material that has a lot of potential to create more and more original techniques depending on how you use it. I'm particularly interested in what kind of material to draw on, so I'm trying not only Japanese paper but also canvas. In addition, I have used various materials such as cinnavenia, cotton cloth, and polyester cloth, which are not sold as painting materials. I also use various painting materials such as acrylic paint and alkyd resin paint according to the material. But sometimes I want to come back to my original Japanese paper and mineral pigments. I drew the works in this series when I came back there.

Born in Tokyo and live in Tokyo BFA Tama Art University MFA Tama Art University Graduate School, Japanese painting major Chisato Yamada is a painter with 40 years of experience. What she has been pursuing for a long time is to see the invisible. In seeing, in experiencing, in thinking, in feeling, in history, in society, she has pursued an expression that can be seen only through painting. The style of most of her work is abstract, but she also has a style of painting concrete objects. She considers both abstract and figurative to be different routes to the same summit. She is at the same time very interested and attracted to the material of painting itself. She majored in Japanese painting at art college and uses a primitive painting medium called "iwa-enogu," which is made from minerals and other materials that have been used in Japan for centuries. She also uses acrylic paints for their robustness. She also uses a variety of painting materials. Canvas, Japanese paper, and non-painting materials such as polyester fabrics are often used in her work. In her 40 years of painting, she has created a diverse collection. Saatchi Art is pleased to present five of these collections. Please visit the Collections page. "https://www.chisato-yamada.com" instagram:@chisatoyamadart
