ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This rich collage is constructed from reclaimed items from the ground up. The weathered wood panel is constructed from a discarded hollow door, with countless layers of different types of paper including damaged books, junk mail and magazines as well as bold paint strokes. Piece can be displayed in any orientation you prefer. Signed and dated on the back. A final coat of matte varnish protects and seals the piece. Art is gallery wrapped with extra beefy 2.75" deep sides, so no need for framing. The pieces weighs 10 pounds. The wood panel has two D-rings on the back with heavy duty plastic-coated wire–ready to hang and add a unique story to any space. And people ask, "why the title?" The titles of the collage pieces I create, come directly from the exposed text in the artwork. Can you find it?

The work I create is about capturing energy—the intentional and spontaneous to make work that honors the gift of life. Using reclaimed paper, manuals, magazines and textbooks I create layered artwork that demands more than the casual glance. My art is about juggling time, color and balance. I always strive to create art that is bold, physical and has an overall element of fun. The editing process is about layering–adding and covering back up. My current work is rugged and blends areas of control with those of absolute chaos, wielding paint, markers, spray paint and using whatever tools I can find.
