About The Artwork
In 1493 Spanish horses were brought to North America, first in the Virgin Islands, then in 1519 to the continent. From Mexico they spread to the Great Plains. Horses immediately changed the whole way of life for the natives. Changing the way of hunting, social hierarchy, mobility and warfare. These beautiful animals were seen to be gifts from the gods and were called "god dogs" by plains tribes.
