Leda And The Swans Print

It was reading about Cy Twombly, and seeing his interpretation of this myth, that prompted me to look at other, more classical interpretations. They made me angry - how can a woman be either raped or seduced? It's not a fine line! It was also infuriating to think of the voyeurism and the fascination with the young woman's flesh as she's being violated. I created my own unsuspecting Leda with a stripe of pink indicating her vulnerability and innocence. Then, there are the swans. Not just Zeus in disguise but three black boats, their bloody red peeking from underneath. The background is calm and bright ,though, so perhaps there is yet hope for Leda. The painting can easily hang on nails or screws, no need for special fixtures.
