This painting was inspired by a visit to the Forest of the Lost Child, one of the last remaining primary forests in Kenya. It was so magical and I just hope to convey some of that magic light through this painting. The forest has unique wildlife, flora, fauna and humans coexisting in a fragile ecosystem. The forest has been protected by the original family of Maasai that have lived on the land for centuries and surround most of the forest as size of the community has increased over time. The background is an acrylic pour and I have used charcoal and oils to define the leopard.

Art is more than just its economic value, it gives meaning to life and is the experience of our culture and brings people together. My art reflects the way I perceive things and wish to portray about them. I like working in various mediums and although my themes remain consistent, they are likely to be expressed in watercolour, oil, acrylic or even fabric collage. I worked as an Advertising art Director for several years before I finally found my way back to Art 4 years ago. My work usually stems from inequality issues that face us in Kenya, like gender, poverty, water access, environment and endangered environments and wildlife.
