About The Artwork

‘Let Me Be’ Living in the Northern Territory in Australia has really made me appreciate our Indigenous culture much more than before, and I really felt a calling to paint something that would reflect this. The painting title is named after the Xavier Rudd song of the same name. Several of Rudd's songs incorporate socially conscious themes, such as spirituality, humanity, environmentalism, and the rights of Indigenous Australians. This song is about the way the indigenous people of Australia have been treated through the years. Some of the lyrics read: “ Oh oh, Let me be now Hmm hmm, let be because I want to be free now Oh oh, free to see, yeah well Want to walk away, oh oh Let me feel my feet Let me be, free Time and time and time we see these Acts against humanity, well Each for each and each will be then Shed blood for what they each believe, well On and on and on we go well, Some will you see and, some won’t be True for you and truth will lead you To a sense of, well now, peace…” This image does not depict any individuals. It is from my own imagination. This painting has some texture on it, is painted on a gallery wrapped canvas, has been sealed with varnish, and comes framed and ready to hang and with a Certificate of Authenticity.

"Inspired Art from the Heart" I am an emerging, self-taught acrylic artist born and living all of my life in Perth, Western Australia, until my move to Darwin in the Northern Territory in January 2020. I am inspired by nature, spirit, life, music and lyrics and just like my music tastes, my artistic style, techniques and themes are very eclectic. My ‘inspired art from the heart’ covers a variety of themes which encapsulates my raw uniqueness and spiritual energy as I create vibrant paintings of the beauty found in the details of my life. I have a love of painting and creating and want to share this with others to help inspire, heal, motivate or whatever emotion her paintings evoke. Every ANZAC Day (since 2016), I paint an original artwork to honour the fallen service men, women and animals and their ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. LEST WE FORGET. My mantra is as follows: “Art is like people, no two are the same. Each person has their own destiny, and art will always find its destiny too.”
