ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Another in a series of works around Velasquez's Lezcano. This is one of the most interesting paintings I have ever seen. What do we read in the face of the young man? Subject to Velasquez, present in the court of the king, dressed in the kings hunting gear. Under Velasquez' gentle but "real" (all to real) eye, there are more mirrors and false direction here than Las Meninas, in my opinion. I have tried to capture some of the unfathomable depth, as well of the dichotomy of feeling.

What interests me as an artist is the process and choices of creation. I choose to paint neither from life (although I practice with portraits and transcriptions) nor from imagination.
