I really enjoyed making this painting from start to finish. To create the texture of the background behind the model, I did a base coat with acrylic paint, scraping and moving the paint around with a putty knife. I thought that juxtaposing the warm brown tones with small areas of the greenish blue color would make an interesting texture. After the initial layer for the background, everything else in the painting was done in oils. After I painted the figure, I pushed and magnified the nuances happening within the wall texture to refine the way it looks, which led to what you see in the photo. I like adding elements like this sometimes because it changes the dynamic of how you see the figure in such a different way. I loved painting the figure's face, especially her eyes. Pink cheeks and that little highlight at the edge of the nose are always fun to paint. I was happy with how the glowing pink transparency of the pinky finger came out also. This painting was created on archival panel.
