This painting is based on a drawing I made in 2003. It is a lifeguard stand at Ala Moana Beach in Honolulu Hawaii. The beach has a reef protected inner area as shown by the light blue water. The waves break on the reef and is a popular surfing area.. 
This type of lifeguard stands have been replaced since then.
