Lions Gate Bridge is the link between the USA and Canada. I took this photo on my way to the mountains that are visible in the background of the bridge it is a stunning setting that I try to recreate with the water the skyscrapers hitting the edges of the peaks. I have a series of these architectural abstract images that are both figurative and abstract. I took this upon being able to go back to this beautiful place since it was forbidden for most Americans to go to for several years during Covid. I suppose you can call this a Covid creation as I was missing being able to ski up in one of my favorite places in the world- OH CANADA!

ARTIST BIO: Nice to meet you! I have been painting since I can remember. I draw an image than paint over it using photos I take throughout my travels. I consider myself an architectural abstract painter as I often paint man made structures in their unnatural habitat. My latest series is called the Lions Gate Bridge based on a series of images I took of the bridge named above in Vancouver Canada. I sold two pieces to a couple who live by the bridge and were visiting Seattle where I live recently. I use charcoal to start the image using large format canvas than paint using Flashe or Vinyl and water based oil as it can be transparent so I can still use the charcoal image underneath. I have had many shows in Pioneer Square starting as a young adult as a family friend owned a gallery at 319 Western. I grew up climbing the fire escape ladders to the roof and enjoying all the open studios on First Thursday Art Walk. I come from a long line of painters including 2 of my 4 sisters one of whom is represented in NYC at a gallery. Our father sold art at a booth in Pike Place Market and my aunt June also owned a gallery at Pier 66 in downtown Seattle and sold her own art along with other local artists. My grandmother also was the head of the Northwest Women's Painters association for many years and was a working artist for most of her life. It's in our blood. Supposedly we are related to Mary Cassat but I can't prove it it is just what my nana has always said.
