ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Baobab trees are striking and unique in appearance. Their thick, gnarled trunks and iconic silhouette against the sky can make for a visually captivating subject. They are seen as symbols of strength, resilience, and longevity; and can survive for thousands of years, even in harsh environments. I painted the baobab tree at sunset, the transition from day to night. With that symbolic juxtaposition I want to convey a sense of change, transformation that Africa is going though right now.
