I was raised in a family of artists and illustrators in Chattanooga, Tennessee where I spent time growing by painting and drawing. Not necessarily seeing it for anything more than what it was: a language. In 2008, I was accepted as an apprentice into the Studio of Daud Akhriev where I was introduced to the Russian Tradition of Painting and Drawing. From there, I was granted a scholarship to attend the Florence Academy of Art where I studied the Italian tradition. Years later, I moved to England and continued my practice as an artist which is where my interest in Maritime scenes was inspired. I now reside with my dog, Artisan, back in Tennessee. My travels, studies, and time painting en plein air provokes question in my direction a painter and so the conversation unfolds in the studio where I work from drawings, hallucinations, lucid dreams, photographs, and memories as reference for compositions. Gilding, layering, sanding, scraping, and glazing comprise the techniques used to create my work. I paint isolations, figures, landscapes, still lives and abstractions. I paint the estranged: the transparent in passing.
