About The Artwork

With fall comes a final crescendo of color as life retreats from the advancing cold of winter. The leaves breath there last breath in brilliant defiance of the diminished sun. Looking up through the tapestry of color, glimpses of blue sky are shown within the glowing leaves. Attempting to capture this radiance was the goal of this painting. Fall is my favorite season. The smell of the drying leaves reminds me of the upcoming harvest feasts and festivals. I love to look up through the majestic maples. It seems to put life into perspective being shadowed by these mighty trees.

"The doctor says it's Bipolar Disorder 2" As a child, I am sure I had ADHD. But it wasn't widely diagnosed or treated when I was a child. So it wasn't until the age of 25 that I started showing signs of a larger problem. It didn't happen overnight. The diagnosis came after several hospitalizations, several different physiatrists and many changes of medication. Bipolar disorder 2 comes with long periods of depression. You cycle several times a year. For me the cycles come with the changes in season. As you may be aware many very creative artist have been theorized to have had bipolar disorder. We tend to be more expressive than other people. Perhaps its the inability to totally control our emotions, that allows us to channel them to other medium. For me art is an excellent way to channel emotions. My creative intuitiveness comes alive on paper. I have no formal education as an artist. What you see is what I continue to tune and perfect. I wish to use my diagnosis and art to help bring awareness and hope to others that are struggling to find a place in this world.
