ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This abstract painting does its best to communicate the ongoing struggles that humans encounter in the act of living, interacting and behaving in society today. It's not that different from Golding's novel, and with COVID 19 continuing to stab at us, it adds just one more layer of barbed tension to the chaotic canvas we all call home. There will always be a struggle for power in this abstract and the often surreal world we live in. It's how you personally choose to react to that power which defines you. If you are authentic, rational, morally conscious and always working toward peace, harmony and goodwill towards your fellow man and woman, then I believe you will live a much more peaceful and prosperous life.

I was born and raised in Idaho. I always enjoyed hiking and fishing in the Sawtooth Mountains, spending time at our little cabin in McCall, Idaho and at our family farm in Cambridge, Idaho. I have always had a deep appreciation for great art and creative solutions to challenging problems. I love to write, paint and create using any medium. My mind is often taken hostage by intrusive thoughts. I strive to paint in the moment and let the brush or knife read those emotions. My paintings are very therapeutic for me and if I could paint day and night I would. I love to create because because it brings me peace. In my professional career I have always worked in Advertising and am most happy when I am solving problems with creative ideas. I have created hundreds if not thousands of advertising campaigns over the past 30 years. I know how rare it is to have found a career in doing what you love and for that I will always be grateful.
