ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This piece depicts lower calf creek falls, during the summer time, which is a 126 ft. waterfall near Escalante Utah. To get to the waterfall requires a 6 mile round trip hike, which isn't too difficult. I have been several times and it is beautiful, it is a true desert oasis that is spring fed so the water runs year round! The hike through the canyon, to the waterfall, features several petroglyphs that the local Native Americans carved in the canyon walls which can be seen from the trail. This is truly one of the awesome landmarks of Southern Utah! I hope you enjoy my art and thank you for your support! I was inspired to paint this piece as I love the scenic landscapes of Souther Utah. Most of the hikes are peaceful and the nature is calming. I normally work with acrylic paint and is why I chose that medium for this painting. This piece was painted on 16x20 inch canvas board and is varnished with two coats of brush on clear satin varnish.

Elko Nevada based artist, Brady Nielson, grew up in Utah and began painting and drawing at a young age. He continued improving his artistic talents through high school but put them on hold when he entered college. Over the next decade he worked toward degrees and certificates in several fields including geology, geographic information systems, and mining engineering while taking a couple of art classes along the way. During his time as a student he married and had 3 beautiful children, with another addition arriving just recently. A couple of months before landing his first job as an engineer, his unknowing wife laughed when she caught him binge-watching Bob Ross episodes, as it was the last thing she expected this scientifically-minded, outdoor enthusiast to be interested in. A few months later he started painting again and his wife began to understand his interest in Bob Ross and art as she watched him unveil this hidden talent! He has now been painting professionally for 2 years and enjoys inspiring others with his works of art. He has won several art competitions and awards, as well as multiple prizes including Grand Champion at the 2019 Elko County Fair. He also shows his work at Clearly Nevada, a new local art gallery here in Elko City.
