This painting is about capturing the moment. My friend Sabine was chatting on the phone in the shadows of the cafe and it was an interesting juxtaposition. Newbury St in Boston is always a perfect subject and also good for people watching. The long shadows created by the figures were the final draw that inspired me to paint this scene.
