ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Colour and pattern inspired my painting this time; it started with the flowers and windows as my background and then felt that a pensive person would add to the general ambience of silence and a moment of calm and reflection. I myself have just been sitting in a cafe in La Madeleine in Paris, eating a madeleine biscuits with my coffee, and have also just finished reading Proust's "A la recherche du temps perdu" so the time was right!

Rachel Baylis Ma (Fine Art) lives in London. She was born in 1959, in Cape Town, as her father was posted there while serving in the navy. As a child She also lived in Washington DC which she adored. Rachel set up and ran The Great Art expedition in the Royal Parks, London. She is now also a visiting tutor, working for art groups, arts centres, and individuals. Her studio is in Kingston and visitors are welcome by appointment.
