ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Around the month of May, the coastline in Pacific Grove, CA is covered in joyful, purple flowers that highlight the trails around the ocean in bright colors. In the late 1930's Hayes Perkins moved to Pacific Grove and noted the unappealing plant-life along the coast. He planted the Magic Carpet plant, not native to the region over the course of 14 years to help beautify the milelong stretch along the trails. It's a stunning sight to see these plants in full bloom. This image captures the morning sun cast along a patch of Magic Carpet growing around rocks, elevating the beauty of the full scene.
