Joni Rivera is a self-taught artist with a degree in International Studies. Her true passion is art,

which is a form of self-expression and meditation; a conduit for her love of the natural world. Her works advocate for the preservation of all flora and fauna, hence the inspiration for painting mostly botanicals, animals and landscapes.

Her medium of choice is watercolor, as she is a botanical artist, watercolor provides the luminous transparency and versatility that botanical artwork requires. She occasionally loves working with ink, graphite and colored pencil for the precision and control, a welcome break from the unpredictability of a water medium. Her influences are Karl Martens, Oliver Pyle and Billy Showell. The masters of ink that inspires her are Moebius, Franklin Booth and Bernie Wrightson.
