Ian Calloway was born in Brighton England in 1958 and attended primary and secondary school in a small provincial town in Sussex. He continued his education at Canterbury College of Art Canterbury Kent graduating in 1979 with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art and Art History, majoring in Painting. Ian worked on the London Stock Exchange whilst continuing to paint in a semi-professional capacity as sales would allow up to 1985. Ian Calloway embarked on a world trip and arrived in New Zealand in February 1987. He was initially employed in the printing industry as a Photolithographer and later as pre press artist in screen printing, but made redundant in 1991 when he decided to pursue his artistic endeavors and began painting full time. He also attended life drawing sessions at the Waikato Society of Art (WSA). In 2006 his association with the WSA lead to tutoring positions in Oil painting and Life drawing. Ian currently works from his home in sunny Whitianga, New Zealand
