About The Artwork

This piece was done as an illustration for a book on the myth of Lyonesse, Cornwall's little Atlantis, done in conjunction with Falmouth University. Combining Cornish myths, Arthurian legend and current ecological issues such as ocean plastics, I designed and produced this map after studying 18th century texts describing the sunken kingdom, and old sea charts from the archives of Morrab Library. Images are all painted on acrylic paper and signed by the artist.

I am an artist and illustrator living in Cornwall, UK whose work has been exhibited and sold all over the world. I trained initially in the theatre, focusing on scenic art, puppetry and mask making before moving into fine art and illustration. I was the house artist for Trapdoor Theatre Company from 2000 – 2004 and have spent time in the props department of the Royal Opera House and crafting puppets for NYC’s Stagedoor Manor Theatre Training Camp. I paint predominantly in acrylics, layering colour finely to create beautifully lit landscapes and covering a wide variety of subject matter. I also work regularly for festivals, circus and theatre companies producing scenic art and props and is a Trustee for the Lafrowda Arts Festival. I am lucky enough to be the Manager of the renowned Penwith Gallery, St Ives, and I have led workshops for adults and children in everything from fine art to mask making and withy modelling.
