My name is Valentina Matienko, and I was born in Podillya is the central part of Ukraine. From early childhood I was surrounded of nature, ukrainian folklore, and books. As artist, I prefer to paint flowers in their natural environment. That's why I always seek to convey the beauty and character of flowers not so much in form as in color. It's important, because the effect of color is so powerful and it can convey any emotion and mood. Studying the psychology of color, I seek to translate this knowledge into my works so that the paintings are harmonious and balanced. That's why each my work is an experiment and a personal search. The main components of my painting process are canvas, oil paints, brushes, nature environment, good music, intersting books, and of course, communication with people. Mainly, I use oil paints and canvas in my work. Often I experimenting with different painting styles and techniques. In one picture, I can combine the elements of realism, expressionism and impressionism. In another time I can use the old masters technique, as “wet on dry”, or glaze and impressionist techniques, as “wet on wet”, different brushes and palette knife. And the most important thing is that I want and can share a charge of positive energy with my audience through my paintings. Most of my works are in domestic and foreign private collections. Also, I participated in numerous Ukrainian exhibitions and plein air sessions.
