About The Artwork
I have always been fascinated with Marilyn Monroe and her place atop the American Pop Culture Icons list. I hope the viewers feel that sense of awe and mystique that seems to surround Marilyn's legacy. I chose to do this piece in black and white for two primary reasons, it's correct for the time period and the inspirational photo I used for this piece was done in black and white.

I currently live in Dallas, TX and grew up about 30 miles north of Dallas in Denton, TX. Art has always come naturally and organically to me with my first real art related memory coming from winning an art contest in Kindergarten. Throughout my years in school I won several art competitions with it all culminating my senior year when I won a blue ribbon in a state competition. Sadly from there I didn't touch anything art related again until 2010 when I was challenged to try Oil Painting and from there it has taken on a life of its own.
