Dilek DOGAN was born in Golcuk/ Kocaeli-TURKEY, in 1967. Throughout her life that has been spent by the sea, she has reflected the beauties that she saw in nature and especially at sea to her canvases with her artistic talents. Dilek DOGAN received her first painting and drawing education at The İzmir Art and Sculpture Museum and Gallery, Turgut PURA Workshop in between 1984-1986. She successfully graduated from Izmir Dokuz Eylül University Fine Arts Faculty with a BA degree in 1991 in completion of her undergraduate academic art education between 1987-1991. She also participated in the postgraduate program at Mimar Sinan University Fine Arts Faculty, Department of Design between 1996-1997. Dilek DOGAN set up her first solo exhibition at Izmir Ephesus Archaeology Museum in 1985. Since then, she has performed 14 personal exhibitions and participated in 13 group art exhibitions. She also taught painting arts to the students in diverse ages and nationalities at some private art workshops and schools in Istanbul, Ankara, and Marmaris. In her works, she has often painted compositions with the themes of sea, sea creatures, and stunning colors of rich flora of the underwater environment in an original way of using a rich color scale, reflections and shadows. At her exhibition in 1999, named as "Life Began in the Seas", She composed the masterpieces of the Anatolian Civilizations in colorful and tranquil underwater environments in her paintings and she was entitled as "the First Underwater Archaeology Artist of Turkey" by some art critics. Dilek DOGAN has depicted mostly antic figures, landmarks, women, horses in a marine environment with realistic and impressionistic influences in her own style and techniques. Her recent works have been reflecting pop-art influences. She has expressed her aim as “to bequeath the beauties of our world to the next generations, at least on her canvas, before they vanish on the earth and to create an awareness to protect them”. Many of her art-works are in private collections or in art galleries all over the world and two of her paintings have been owned and exhibited by the U.S. Naval War College Museum and Rahmi M. Koç Museum Collections. Dilek DOGAN has been continuing to her art endeavor in her art studios both in Istanbul-Turkey and Miami, Florida-USA.
