Marvelous Night for a Moon Dance Print

This painting is part of my series 'Affinities.' I was inspired by my observation that while people may disagree on topics like politics or religion, we share many of the same passions, interests and memories. I would like the view to relate to the companionship of our animals, the references to the music of the 70s & 80s, the opulence of a summer garden and the anticipation of a party. The title of this piece is from the Van Morrison song by the same name. I paint in oil using the layering to technique of the Northern Renaissance and Flemish painters to create depth. I create texture using layers of stencils. Typography and graphic design elements create contrast to the depth and reference the current culture.
