Acrylic + Gold Leaf on Canvas Panel A woman in a traditional Armenian Taraz is painted with symbols and acrylic paint. The style is a combination of traditional Armenian art and Gustav Klimt's modern symbolism. The war in Armenia in late 2020 was given little to no coverage due to major media outlets being lobbied by the Turkish and Azeri governments. While the Armenian Genocide is repeating history, the Armenian woman is joining her male companion on the battlefield in hopes to bring our troops home. This painting signifies the women who help their men in battle, their country in survival, and their offspring in raising them with cultural pride. The Armenian woman has survived the massacres of the late 1800s, the Armenian Genocide in 1915, the pogroms of the 80s, and now she will again have to survive the massacres of the 21st century. The painting serves to preserve the culture of the Armenian people and to spread awareness of massive war crimes happening towards Armenians today.
