About The Artwork

For this piece I used image transfer of a photograph which I took and developed myself in a darkroom. I then used paint, ink and varnish to allow the chair to tell its own story. I love how distanced it seems from its surroundings; an untold story ready to unfold. I have layered the paint and ink and used varnish to create texture and depth. This piece is unframed and unmounted ready to go in to your own frame. Image size 35 x 46 cm.

My current work explores the relationship between us and our energy. I am asking the question 'can a painting influence how we feel at an energetic level?' I am looking at things such as colour, symbolism, memory and wish plus experimenting with the use of gemstones and scent. Please get in touch if you would like to know more or to commission an artwork. Thank you. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I make a variety of works using techniques learned from my training in art, design and photography at Croydon Art College and my BA (Hons) in Fashion Design from the University of Brighton, in which I specialised in printed textiles. Since graduating in 1999 I have continued to explore and refine my practice and have taken part in numerous exhibitions; from Brighton Open Houses, Hove Museum and Art Gallery and The Old Aldwych Tube Station. There is frequently an overlap in my work; stitch and embroidery appear on paintings and photographic prints find their way onto my textiles. Photographs are often manipulated until they resemble a print. I enjoy the freedom of this interdisciplinary approach and the exciting results it can often produce. Conversely though, I also appreciate the simplicity of a line drawing or the interesting imperfections of an unadulterated photograph. My work has been shortlisted for the Royal Academy and I currently own KREIVA gallery in Bridlington.
