Intentions : Composition and color are the two fundamental pillars of my pictorial research. My painting focuses on abstract compositions in which I strive to find graphic balance, unity, and chromatic harmony. In my work as a painter, I am interested in memory, which I explore through color and matter. The memory of successive layers of paint, where each scar and each scratch takes on its full dimension and logic, and where each color retains the trace of the previous one, feeds on it and takes shape. The memory of successive layers of paint where each scar, each scratch takes on its full dimension and logic, and where each color retains the repentance of the previous one, feeds on it, and takes shape. Inheriting in order to become. I paint forms like pieces of the world in which the strength and fragility perceived in each of us are inscribed. Creative process: I start by sketching small drawings in my notebooks, which I call “skeletons” because they form the backbone of my work. I write down my impressions and thoughts, which I then try to reproduce graphically in my paintings. I also work on studies on paper to make some progress with color. Once I have selected the composition, I prepare my canvas and sketch the structure of my composition succinctly in charcoal. Then I start working on my colors and materials. I often use pigments, but also acrylic, ink, graphite, oil, etc. I spend a lot of time on a painting, returning to it many times, letting it rest, reflecting; painting gives me the time I need. My inspiration comes from poetry and literature, but also from the landscapes (urban and rural) that surround me in my daily life or during trips and travels, which support my introspective and contemplative research.
