Millennial Beauty Print

I was inspired by the torment behind my desire to be beautiful. It wants to be seen, it needs to be seen. "Millennial Beauty" expresses the pain behind each body's curves. The line work in this piece represents the many lines that are drawn onto a person's body, be it pre-op markings or a simple eyeliner - line work plays a subtle yet significant role in today's beauty. I translated such humble line work into bold, angry brush strokes. The angry red brush strokes illustrates the blood and pain one goes through to achieve such pink of beauty. At the top of the painting, you will see a shape that resembles a syringe with letters 'UTE' on it, which can be interpreted as "Beaute", "Cute" or "Brute". "Beaute" is a tribute to French culture, which I have been greatly inspired by. I have chosen pink as the colour theme because it represents the pink of beauty and femininity. But most importantly, it is an attention seeking colour, just like our desire to be seen.
