I was born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands where I received a teaching degree in fine arts in 1980, though I pursued a career in natural healing, which led me to Scotland. I have lived in Forres in Morayshire since 1989. In 2019 I decide to pick up the brushes and rekindled my love for painting. Althou I occassionally dab in portraits, my current subject is landscape, seascape and weather scape. I sketch on location and take images with my smart phone. I take my inspiration from the ever changing colour and light of the Scottish weather scapes, which are often breath takingly beautiful. The vast and often moody scapes fill me with a sense of awe, reverence and respect for the natural beauty of our earth. I take my sketches and images to my studio where I use them as a reference to create a work that hopefully leaves the viewer inspired.
