About The Artwork

Mitopatogias, The aim in my work is to focus in the process hence the tendency towards abstraction. However it’s not unusual to find some recognisable figurative elements within some of my paintings. Therefore, it would be acceptable to state that in general my work shifts within a thin line between abstract and figurative. In this particular painting, Mitopatologias, whose name is been made by putting together myth and pathology, a couple of very popular icons which represent very different values had been used to draw attention to the significance and the consequences of blind following any trend. On regards of the style, It appeared to me that a graffiti, street art style treatment seemed appropriate to represent nowadays popular and cultural issues. The material used for this work is spray paint, oil and acrylic on assembled boards from an old wardrobe. It comes as one piece and is been framed with a thin wooden edge for protection.

Spanish Artist 1977 Sevilla. In my work there is improvisation and arrangement; there is room for chaos and the meditated construction of an image. There are connections, contradictions and dilemmas wrapped in an abstract atmosphere in which the emphasis is made in the process of painting itself and its characteristics and possibilities as a medium.
